Please carefully read the following requirements for transcripts and documents you will need to complete your application process: All documents must be mailed to the Office of Admissions.
Undergraduate Applicants (BFA, BM and College Arts Diploma) )
- Official transcript with a seal or signature of a school official or registrar from each school attended or proof of high school graduation or G.E.D. Copies are unacceptable.
- Courses in which the applicant is enrolled at the time of application must be included on the transcript.
- SAT I or ACT test scores - required of all college candidates who have earned fewer than 12 academic college credits. (Do not send student copy.)
- Official AP or IB score reports - if applicable. Scores may be submitted after a candidate's acceptance.
- Two letters of recommendation, preferably one from an arts instructor and one from an academic instructor.
Home-Schooled College Applicants
- Proof of graduation from the home-school
- Proof via detailed course descriptions, titles of tests used, evaluations of knowledge demonstrated of having completed the equivalent of the University of North Carolina's Minimum Course Requirements.
- Two letters of recommendation, preferably one from an arts instructor.
- Official SAT or ACT score (do not send student copy.)
College Transfer Applicants
- Official SAT or ACT score (do not send student copy.)
- Official high school transcript with a seal or signature of a school official or registrar showing grades earned and date of graduation or poof of GED (copies are unacceptable.)
- Official transcript with a seal or registrar's signature from each college attended. Copies are unacceptable.
- Courses in which the student is enrolled at the time of application must be included.
- Two letters of recommendation, preferably one from an arts instructor and one from an academic instructor.
Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Applicants
- Official transcript with a seal or registrar's signature from each college attended. Copies are unacceptable.
- Courses in which applicant is enrolled must be included.
- Two letters of recommendation, preferably one from an arts instructor and one from an academic instructor.
Master of Music (MM) Applicants
- Official transcript with a seal or registrar's signature from each college attended. Copies are unacceptable.
- Courses in which applicant is enrolled must be included.
- Two letters of recommendation, preferably one from an arts instructor and one from an academic instructor.
High School Applicants (8TH - 10TH Grades)
- Official transcript from each school attended with a validation seal or signature of a school official or registrar. Copies are unacceptable.
- Courses in which applicant is enrolled must be included.
- Entering 8th grade - transcripts from 5th, 6th and 7th grades.
- Entering 9th grade - transcripts from 6th, 7th and 8th grades.
- Entering 10th grade - transcripts from 7th, 8th and 9th grades.
- Standardized test scores, including state and national testing, since 6th grade.
- Two letters of recommendation, preferably one from an arts instructor and one from an academic instructor.
High School Applicants (11th - 12th Grades)
- Official transcript from each school attended with a validation seal or signature of a school official or registrar. Copies are unacceptable.
- Courses in which applicant is enrolled must be included.
- Entering 11th grade - transcripts from 8th, 9th and 10th grades.
- Entering 12th grade - transcripts from 9th, 10th and 11th grades.
- Standardized test scores, including state and national testing, since 6th grade.
- SAT I or ACT if taken.
- Two letters of recommendation, preferably one from an arts instructor and one from an academic instructor.
Home-Schooled High School Applicants
- Official transcripts from each traditional school attended with a validation seal or signature of a school official.
- Titles and descriptions (including topics) of courses completed in each year of home schooling.
- A course-by-course listing of credits earned and tests used.
- Documentation verifying mastery of coursework.
- Attendance records.
- Results of nationally recognized standardized achievement tests taken.
- Verification of home school’s continuing compliance with state law.
- An expository writing sample.
International Applicants
- TOEFL results – required for all applicants to the college program and the MM and MFA programs for whom English is not the primary language.
- SLEP results - required of all applicants to the high school program for whom English is not the primary language.
- Transcripts must be received from each high school/secondary and post-secondary school attended, and bear a seal of validation or signature by a school official. Each original transcript must have an English translation provided by a certified translator, and the translation must be notarized.
- Transcript must include courses in which applicant is enrolled at time of application
- Must fill out a Financial Statement Form.
- Verification of sufficient funds or affidavit of support from bank or sponsor.
- Copy of current passport, I-20 and visa, if applicable.
