Zak Stevenson earned his B.F.A. from Central Michigan University, his M.F.A. from the North Carolina School of the Arts and possesses over twenty years of experience in the field of technical production. He has also provided technical direction and taught technical theatre courses at Southern Utah University, the University of North Carolina - Greensboro and Alma College, Alma, Michigan. Professionally, he has worked for numerous companies, including the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival and 10 seasons at the Utah Shakespeare Festival.
Mr. Stevenson is a member of the U.S. Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) and has served on panels for the national conference and presentations for the southeast region master classes. Stevenson served as the technical coordinator for Region VIII Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festivals in 2007 and 2008 as well as establishing guidelines for the first region VIII award for Student Technical Director in 2007.
Mr. Stevenson is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 635, Winston-Salem, NC and has served as call steward for Local 274 (Lansing, MI) and Local 635. Stevenson is an ETCP certified rigger (arena) and actively rigs with Locals 635, 574 (Greensboro, NC), and 322 (Charlotte, NC). He is also a member of the American Welding Society (AWS) and American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).
