Howard Jones earned his B.A. from William Jewell College and did master’s work at Mankato State University. He has taught scene painting and design at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts since 1982. He is one of the original founders of Cobalt Studios in White Lake, N.Y., and has designed at Goodspeed Opera, Starlight Theatre, State Ballet of Missouri, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, North Shore Music Theatre, New Theatre, North Carolina Dance Theatre, North Carolina Shakespeare Festival, Triad Stage, American Heartland Theatre, Missouri Repertory Theatre and Merrimack Repertory Theatre. He has painted for Ming Cho Lee, James Leonard Joy, John Ezell, Campbell Baird and Franco Colavecchia to name a few. Mr. Jones was honored in 2000 with the Elliott Norton award for Scene Design in Boston and his work was exhibited in the World Stage Design Exhibit in 2005. Mr. Jones has been a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829 since 1980.
