UNCSA is one of only a few universities in the nation offering a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree program in the area of Wig and Make-up. The small faculty to student ratio and state of the art facilities ensure a quality learning environment. With a comprehensive curriculum, the wig and make-up program is one of a select few in the nation offering learning opportunities in wig making, make-up, and prosthetics in a single program. Our faculty provide a holistic approach to teaching, and offer students the chance to work with all industry standard materials. A strong collaboration with the costume design program enhances the opportunity for in depth studies of characters.
To provide the necessary experience for future employment, every student is given the opportunity to work on at least one live production in either theatre or film each term, and will have the learning outcomes reinforced through our production classes. Students of UNCSA’s wig and make-up program also have many attractive elective options available to them during their course of study. In addition to the school learning experience, students will be offered assistance in developing their portfolio, and given access to professional networking opportunities. Graduates of the wig and make-up program have historically experienced great success in their employment after graduation. Some 95% of students that have graduated are employed in their desired fields across the country and the world.
