Furey, Voice and Text, Accent and Dialects (2001)
M.A. from University College
Dublin and PGDVS from Central School of Speech and Drama in London. He
has taught voice, text, and accent and dialect at conservatories in
London, Dublin and the United States, and has taught voice and
dialect/accent workshops across the United States and Ireland. He
recently worked on the dialects for the recent U.S. premiere of Billy
Elliot: the Musical where he continues as resident dialect coach.
He was also resident dialect coach for the Broadway production of Monty
Python’s Spamalot and continues as resident dialect coach
for the national tour of that show. He has worked as
voice, text and/or dialect coach on more than 28 professional
productions in the United States and internationally, including shows
at the Guthrie Theatre, the Dallas Theater Center, the Gate Theatre
(Dublin), Cincinnati Playhouse, Triad Stage, and the Colorado and North
Carolina Shakespeare festivals. His film coaching has led him to work
with actors including Hugo Weaving, Brian Cox, Alfred Molina and Jack
Davenport. As an actor and performer, he has worked in Britain,
Europe and America in a variety of forms, including plays, musical
theatre, film, voiceover and puppetry.
