The City Of Winston-Salem Utility Services Department will be interrupting water service to a portion of campus on Thursday March 7, 2013 from 8:30AM to 4:00PM. The City will be installing two new valves and repairing a leaking valve during this period of time. The following buildings will not have domestic water (water for toilets, sinks, water fountains):
Film Archives
Pearce
Costume Shop
Administration
Sculpture
Aquarius
Wig & Makeup & Costume
Facilities Management
If you are in the buildings listed above during the shut-down, you will be able to use the toilets and water fountains in any building not listed above or the buildings located nearby as listed below:
Performance Place
Music Building
Design & Production
The following buildings will have fire watches posted during the main water line shut down because there were not be any water to available for the sprinkler system:
Film Archives
Wig & Makeup & Costume
Pierce
Sculpture
Moore, Sanford, and Connector
Music Building
Please refrain from using any toilets/urinals in the affected buildings during the service interruption. Facilities Management staff will be walking through all the affected buildings as soon as service is restored to make all restrooms and water fountains are working properly. Facilities Management appreciates your patience while the repairs take place.

The shutdown of the water line serving the fire sprinklers for Moore and Sanford Residence Halls and the Music Building that was scheduled for today has been cancelled due to a leak in the water line which occurred during the pressure testing of the newly installed line. There will be a new fire protection water line shut down for Moore and Sanford and the Music Building scheduled for tomorrow February 19, 2013 starting at 10 AM and lasting until 4 PM. Fire watches for Moore and Sanford Residence Halls will be provided by the Campus Police. The General Contractor will provide fire watches for the Music Building .

Due to the cold weather, the fire protection water line shut down has been rescheduled. The water in the testing valves is frozen and the contractor is having to thaw the testing valves. The new time for the shutdown will be this afternoon February 18 starting at 12:30 PM and lasting until 5PM. Fire watches for Moore and Sanford Residence Halls will be provided by Campus Police and fire watches for the Music Building will be provided by the Contractor.

Construction Activity Involving Music Building and Moore and Sanford Residence Halls
On Monday, Feb. 18, the water serving the fire protection sprinklers will be cut off from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. so that the construction crew can connect the relocated fire protection water line serving the new Library to the existing fire protection water line serving Music Building and Moore and Sanford Residence Halls. Campus Police will be providing the fire watch in the Residence Halls and the Contractor will be providing the fire watch for the Music Building. The fire watch will be responsible for patrolling the corridors and and notifying Campus Police in the event smoke or fire is discovered. Please note that domestic water supply which is used for water fountains, toilets, showers, and kitchens will not be affected by the shutdown for the water to the fire protection sprinklers.

There will be a short electrical power outage for the Sculpture Studio Building Monday June 11, 2012 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Please turn off all computers and printers in this facility prior to 3:00 PM to prevent any damage to these devices due to a possible power surge once the electrical power is restored.

There will be an electrical power outage today at the Facilities Management Building from 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM. Please shut down the computers and printers in this building prior to 1:00 PM to prevent any potential power surge problems with this equipment after the electrical service is restored.

There will be an electrical power outage for the D&P Classrooms and Shops located behind the Facilities Management offices from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday June 6, 2012. IT recommends that you cut off your computers and printers prior to the shut down so as to prevent damage due to a power surge once the electricity is turned back on for the building.
