Jen Miller

The students at UNCSA offer a unique creativity, expressiveness, and compassion to their environment. I collect so much inspiration and admiration for each individual student that I am privileged to be able to work with. As a mental health counselor, I believe every individual has an opportunity to be the best version of themselves. One of my primary goals as a counselor is to help guide that individual towards that best version. I absolutely love providing mental health support at UNCSA and continuing to appreciate even more the artistry around me.

I approach each individual uniquely and strive to see them as a whole person and not defined by their struggles or pieces of their identity. Each student is given the respectful, safe, and encouraging therapeutic environment they deserve. I enjoy working from such therapeutic approaches a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Person-Centered, and Strengths-Based. I have extensive experience in trauma-focused, anxiety issues, depression issues, sexual assault traumas, women’s issues and LGBTQIA-affirmative.

In addition to my degrees, I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist, and currently working towards Graduate Certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling.
