Appointed as Chief Marketing Officer of UNCSA in 2015, Katharine Laidlaw oversees marketing, communications, public relations and brand management for the university and serves as a member of Cabinet. To this role, Laidlaw brings extensive integrated marketing, management and producorial experience.
She served as UNCSA’s Executive Producer from 2008-2015, with production credits that include Production/General Manager and Marketing Director of UNCSA’s annual production of “The Nutcracker” (2009-2014), which nearly doubled its gross revenue during her tenure, “Oklahoma!” (2011) and Spring Dance at Carolina Performing Arts (2013), as well as Director of Marketing for “Guys & Dolls.” She also produced the filmed productions of “Oklahoma!,” “Much Ado About Nothing,” “Dance Fantasies,” and “The Nutcracker,” which premiered on UNC-TV. She received an Emmy Award for “Much Ado About Nothing,” which won Best Arts Program in the Midsouth Division in 2013.
As a producer for two leading commercial production companies, her credits include: Broadway’s “Topdog/Underdog,” “Gypsy,” “Flower Drum Song,” “The Elephant Man,” “Noises Off,” “Death of a Salesman,” “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown!” and “Bombay Dreams;” West End’s: “Ragtime,” “Boston Marriage” and “Lobby Hero.” Regional credits include: “Thoroughly Modern Millie” (La Jolla Playhouse), “Marty” (Huntington Theatre), “Fully Committed” (Royal George), “And Neither Have I Wings to Fly” (Victory Gardens), “Manufracture” and “Imagine Drowning” (Strawdog Theatre) and “Twelfth Night” and “Julius Caesar” (Lakeside Shakespeare).
She also has served as a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts, and as a marketing consultant and developer of corporate sponsorships for a number of Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. Her brand marketing experience includes positions with The Coca-Cola Company and Hanesbrands, Inc.
