Bissell

Jim Bissell, Production Designer

For more than 25 years, Bissell has designed a number of films including 300, THE RING TWO, 50 FIRST DATES, HOLLYWOOD HOMICIDE, CATS & DOGS, THE 6TH DAY, JUMANJI, THE ROCKETEER, DENNIS THE MENACE, HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS, TWINS, ARACHNOPHOBIA and THE LAST STARFIGHTER.  He was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on George Clooney’s GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK. He had previously collaborated with Clooney on CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND, and is currently working on Clooney’s upcoming film LEATHERHEADS, which is now shooting in North and South Carolina.   Bissell was also nominated for a BAFTA Film Award for Best Production Design/Art Direction for ET THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL.

 

During his April visit to the School of Filmmaking, Mr. Bissell screened 300 and participated in a Q&A hosted by Art Direction faculty member, Burton Rencher, after the screening.  He also conducted a workshop with Art Direction students.

 

 

Jay Cocks, Screenwriter

Jay Cocks’ has received Oscar nominations for GANGS OF NEW YORK and THE AGE OF INNOCENCE. For GANGS OF NEW YORK, he was also nominated for a BAFTA award and a Writer’s Guild of America award. Other credits include SILENCE (currently working with Martin Scorsese on this script), DE-LOVELY, STRANGE DAYS, and MADE IN MILAN.

 

During his April visit to the School of Filmmaking, Mr. Cocks conducted workshops for Screenwriting students.
