2012 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
The State Personnel Act provides all State employees with a holiday schedule that cannot exceed 11 paid holidays per year, except during those years in which Christmas Day falls on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. When that occurs, the Act allows 12 paid holidays. For 2012, Christmas Day falls on a Tuesday; therefore, we have three paid holidays for our Winter Holiday giving us a total of 12 holidays for the year.
New Year’s Day – Monday, January 2
Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Monday, January 16
Memorial Day – Monday, May 28
Independence Day – Wednesday, July 4
Labor Day – Monday, September 3
Thanksgiving – Thursday and Friday, November 22 & 23
Winter Holiday – December 24-31*
*The Veteran’s Day holiday will be observed on December 27, Good Friday will be observed on December 28. The University will be closed on December 31 and employees will use Annual Leave, Bonus Leave, Compensatory Time or Leave Without Pay (where the employee does not have Annual or Bonus Leave or Compensatory Time available).
