|University of North Carolina School of the Arts’ newly renovated RJR Screening Room is now a state of the art video teleconferencing facility allowing advanced two-way interactive video teleconferencing via UNCSA’s connection to the high performance North Carolina Research and Educational Network (NCREN3). As members of the NCREN community, UNCSA is an Internet2 site.
The main theater area allows as many as 70 participants to interact with remote audiences by utilizing voice-activated microphones while viewing remote sites on a movie screen. A picture-in-picture feature allows the audience to view the out-going video while viewing the in-coming transmission.
Remote operator control panels allow for document, wide, and zoom camera angles. In addition to camera manipulation, the control panel is used to send images to the movie screen from a variety of input devices – computer, DVD, VCR, cable television transmissions.
The intimate setting video teleconference area is utilized when five people or less participate in a session. This venue utilizes a remote control panel and an auxiliary cart containing a 27” television monitor.
A fully functional mobile video teleconference cart allows designated sites around campus to act as a second video teleconference facility.
