The Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts

Winston-Salem has been named a Pilot Site for
Community Innovation Labs by EmcArts

The Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts is a creative think-and-do tank affiliated with the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) committed to promoting creative leadership and innovation in the arts through partnerships, programs, and initiatives.

We act as a catalyst for the UNCSA community, including faculty, students, alumni, and staff, to explore exciting trends in our fields, connect with innovative arts leaders, and generate novel approaches to the creative and social challenges of our times.

We develop programming in three primary areas:

Arts and Society
Engaging UNCSA stakeholders along with our collaborators in interdisciplinary approaches to improving economic and social well being.

Arts Leadership, Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Educating artists as creative leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs to increase their capacity to contribute to our communities.

Career Pathways
Building strategic partnerships to develop more diverse and sustainable career paths in the arts sector and beyond.
