Maria Serkin is an assistant professor of horn at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Serkin holds degrees from Manhattan School of Music, New England Conservatory and Eastman School of Music. She has taught at the University of Virginia; Crescendo Summer Institute in Sárospatak, Hungary; the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith; Miami Dade College and New World School of the Arts in Miami; and Manhattan School of Music. She is a founding member of Virginia Sinfonietta and is principal horn with the Charlottesville and University Symphony Orchestra at UVA. Serkin has also has performed with the Florida Grand Opera, the Palm Beach Symphony and Miami city Ballet in Florida, and the Richmond Symphony Orchestra and the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra in Virginia.
