Gerald Klickstein

Gerald Klickstein joined the UNCSA music faculty in 1992, having previously taught on the faculties of the University of Texas at San Antonio, Michigan State University, and Lansing Community College.
A veteran performer and educator, he has appeared on stages throughout the U.S., and his students can be found performing and teaching across the country. He is the author of the internationally acclaimed book "The Musician’s Way" published by Oxford University Press as well as the founder of the popular website MusiciansWay.com. His numerous other publications encompass articles in journals such as The Strad and American String Teacher, musical arrangements in the catalogs of Southern Music Company and Tuscany Publications, a groundbreaking online course titled 10 Steps to Lifelong Creativity, a method book, "Tuning the Guitar By Ear," and posts on diverse websites including weekly articles on The Musician’s Way Blog.
An advocate for innovation and entrepreneurship in music education, he regularly lectures at national conferences and currently serves on the College Music Society's Committee on Careers Outside the Academy. From 2009-2011, he held a two-year term as member-at-large on the board of directors of the American String Teachers Association and, during 2008-2010, served as a member of the National Task Force on the Arts in Education organized by the College Board.
He earned a master of music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a bachelor of music degree from the University of Miami. |
