Jacob Wright

Jacob Ryan Wright recently appeared with Sarasota Opera as an Apprentice Artist for the 2016 Winter Opera Festival. He then made his debut with Asheville Lyric Opera singing Tamino in Die Zauberflöte. In 2015, he sang Gastone in La traviata with North Carolina Opera and won 3rd Prize and the Audience Favorite Award (Young Artist Division) at the 2015 Orpheus Vocal Competition.

In 2014, Jacob was an Apprentice Artist with Des Moines Metro Opera where he sang Gastone (La travitata) on the mainstage and performed Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Tom Rakewell (The Rake’s Progress), and Jacquino (Fidelio) in the scenes program. 

He earned a Master of Music degree from University of Michigan where he performed Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Il Conte Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos. Additionally, Jacob sang the lead role, Marco Polo, in the workshop premiere of Stella Sung’s The Red Silk Thread. He also studied at the University of North Carolina Greensboro where he sang Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Donald Hopewell in Gallantry, and Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors.

Other opera credits include Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore with Opera in the Ozarks, Frederic in Pirates of Penzance and Ralph Rackstraw in HMS Pinafore with Greensboro Light Opera.
