Collaborative Piano Studio

Collaborative Piano Studio

The Collaborative Piano Studio is a select team of graduate student pianists, led by Allison Gagnon, D.M.A., who work with a variety of instrumental and vocal colleagues and their teachers. Much of their performing is with individual student partners, but they also have key roles to play in chamber music, large ensembles and collaborations with student composers. In short, students in our studio are embedded everywhere in the School of Music!

The studio includes students in both the M.M. and P.A.C. (Professional Artist Certificate) program. New to our ranks is our first Fellow in the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute, allowing an opera-centric focus for a qualified student while providing the added exposure to the wider collaborative sphere.

The “collab” students spend a lot of time with partners, but also spend a lot of time together: twice-weekly studio class in our performance halls, weekly literature seminar and the ever-popular Support Skills seminar that allows exposure to a broad spectrum of real-life collaborative situations and skills.
