Kenan Fellowships at Penland School of Crafts
The William R. Kenan, Jr. Fellowship at Penland School of Crafts in Penland, North Carolina, promotes life-long learning, stimulates experimentation and skill development, and shares Penland's model learning environment with UNCSA students and alumni. A total of ten (10) applicants from the UNCSA Visual Arts Program will be selected each year for these Fellowships.
Funded by the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust in conjunction with the Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, these full scholarships are available to recent graduates of UNCSA for study in all media in summer classes at Penland. The program was recently expanded to include two new 8-week Community Service Fellowships for UNCSA alumni who have completed a two-week summer course and want to participate in a concentration and engage with rural communities in the Penland area. Applications and selections are made in partnership with UNCSA.
The deadline to apply for the Kenan Fellowships is February 1, 2017.
