Athletic Trainer Internships

The University of North Carolina School of the Arts welcomes athletic training students with interest and enthusiasm to work in the performing arts. We encourage students to contact us for observation experiences and to apply for internships.

Observation Experiences

Students interested in performing arts medicine in the fields of athletic training and physical therapy can contact Jenna Lynn Evans to coordinate an observation experience.

Academic Year Internships

This is an immersive clinical internship that allows athletic training students to work within a multi-disciplinary medical team to provide care to artists from each department: Dance, Design and Production, Drama, Film, Music and Visual Arts. Interns will have the opportunity to work with adolescent and adult artists.

Due to the hands-on opportunities, this internship is geared towards athletic training students in their final year of a Professional Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP). This internship can be tailored to the needs of the student and accredited athletic training program. Positions are offered in the fall and spring terms. This internship is unpaid.

Placement is determined by a review of the application, resume, letters of recommendation and personal interview. To apply, email the completed Athletic Training Internship Application and additional requirements by the deadline specified for desired rotation.

Athletic Training Internship Application

Summer Session Internship

This is a 5-week internship concurrent with UNCSA Summer Intensive programs. This is a clinically immersive opportunity offering hands-on experiences for students to work with artists in each Dance, Design and Production, Drama, Film, Music and Visual Arts. Interns will have the opportunity to work with adolescent and adult artists.

Due to the hands-on opportunities, this internship is geared towards rising junior, senior or graduate students from Professional Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP). This internship can be tailored to the needs of the student and accreditation athletic training program. Subject to availability, housing and partial meals may be provided on campus. Interns are responsible for their own transportation.

Placement is determined by a review of the application, resume, letters of recommendation and personal interview. To apply, email the completed Athletic Training Internship Application and additional requirements by April 1.
