The Nutcracker 2012

Presented by the University of North Carolina School of the Arts

Directed by Ethan Stiefel

Artistic Director, Royal New Zealand Ballet

Musical Direction by Charles Barker

Principal Conductor, American Ballet Theatre

Tchaikovsky’s music performed by The UNCSA Nutcracker Orchestra

Ethan Stiefel’s brilliant interpretation of a classic returns to the Stevens Center this festive season. Don’t miss this production of “enormous power and artistic excellence” (Yes! Weekly) that “enchants and enthralls… sweep[ing] us into a spell” (Winston-Salem Journal). UNCSA’s production is the only Nutcracker in the Triad to be performed to a live orchestra, this year under the direction of Charles Barker, Principal Conductor, American Ballet Theatre. Experience Tchaikovsky’s lush score, vivid sets and costumes, and the extraordinary performances that have made UNCSA’s Nutcracker a holiday tradition!

Douglas Gawriljuk, a former faculty member of the UNCSA School of Dance who now teaches dance in West Palm Beach, Fla., will return to supervise the 2012 production of
