Kevin Lawrence performs Johann Sebastian Bach’s three solo partitas,
pinnacles of the solo violin repertoire, culminating in the monumental

On the Edge
Tenor Glenn Siebert, mezzo-soprano Janine Hawley and pianist Allison
Gagnon will be joined by UNCSA faculty cellist Brooks Whitehouse
and guest artists Jacqueline Carrasco, Janet Orenstein on violin, and
Christina Placilla on viola to perform selections for voice and string
quartet/quintet. Selections include Vaughan Williams’ On Wenlock Edge and Songs from the Edge by Israeli composer Ella Milch-Sheriff.

Sheila Browne Viola Recital
Faculty violist Sheila Browne and guest pianist Julie Nishimura perform
Romeo and Juliet, a cello sonata by Prokofiev, and works by Vaughan

Dance Dialogues: Alberto del Saz and Dianne Markham
The Kenan Institute for the Arts sponsors this series of conversations
with guest artists working with UNCSA students. Alberto del Saz, artistic
director of the Murray Louis and Nikolais Dance Company, joins UNCSA’s
Dianne Markham, a former company member, in this discussion of the
Nikolais piece Gallery, part of the upcoming Winter Dance Concert. Get
a behind-the-scenes look at Gallery, usually performed in black-light,
and see what is really happening when the lights are on!

graduates of the school’s collaborative program.

My Boyfriend’s Back? Either way, everyone will find Somebody to Love as
Fletcher goes mod with Mozart.

Since 1978, the Annual Mozart Birthday Concert has been among the
most popular of UNCSA’s offerings. School of Music artist-faculty come
together in a program of chamber music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
in celebration of his 255th birthday.

Drama Dialogues: Steven Anthony Jones
The Kenan Institute for the Arts sponsors this series of conversations
with guest artists working with UNCSA students. Steven Anthony Jones,
director of UNCSA’s upcoming A Soldier’s Play, is an accomplished actor
and acting teacher who was in the original production of A Soldier’s
Play directed by Douglas Turner Ward, with fellow cast member Denzel
Washington.
