Born and raised in Mooresville, North Carolina, Amelia Atteberry began her dance training at the age of 3. While attending a local studio, The Academy of Dance and Fine Arts, Amelia found her love of dance while training under Sadie Roberts-Doughten, Melissa Jackson, Cara Goodwin, Cheryl Klaft and Michael and Melissa French. Amelia decided to continue her training at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts for her last two years of high school.
During this time, she was able to take a more classical approach to her contemporary dance training, whlile learning under Brenda Daniels, Sean Sullivan, Abigail Yager, Ming-Lung Yang, Kira Blazek, Trish Casey, Catherine Miller, Maurizio Nardi and Juel D. Lane. After graduating high school, Amelia decided to continue at UNCSA for college, where she had the chance to perform pieces by BJ Sullivan and Martha Graham. This past summer, while working on the housing staff for Joffrey West LA, Amelia had the opportunity to be a rehearsal assistant to Zak Ryan Schlegel, a member of Shen Wei Dance Arts.
