Camp Shakespeare! is a week of fun for students in grades 5-9, where campers explore a Shakespeare play each day through performance and games.
|Camp Shakespeare!||July 17 – 21, 2017|
This is not a sit-down-and-study camp! Instead, campers actively participate, stretching themselves in an atmosphere of self-expression and heightened literacy. They study stage combat daily and perform for families on the last day of camp.
The camp was developed by Shakespeare Lives!, a consortium of highly qualified, certified teachers devoted to the teaching of Shakespeare through performance-based activities. The program aims to excite students as they learn about Shakespeare by offering new, engaging activities that encourage an appreciation for the dramas and poems written by the Bard.
Camp Shakespeare! will be held on the UNCSA campus July 17-21, 2017, from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Campers should wear comfortable, easy-to-move-in clothing and be prepared for a very active week. Students who will be in grades 5-9 in the 2016-17 school year are invited to attend.
For more information, call (336) 734-2848.
The cost of Camp Shakespeare! is $230 for the week, with the option to add lunch and purchase a t-shirt for an additional fee. Registration for Summer 2017 will open on January 10. The registration deadline is July 7, 2017, but students are urged not to wait until the last minute, as many programs fill up well before the deadline.
Please note that registrations for students younger than age 18 must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. A non-refundable $50 deposit is required to hold your place. Students who have not paid the deposit will be waitlisted until the deposit is paid. Payment in full is due by July 14. No refunds are given after the start date. In the event the program is cancelled by UNCSA, payments will be refunded in full.
