Welcome to summer at UNCSA, one of the finest professional dance training centers in the world, and one that has been at the forefront of excellence in training of both high school and college dancers for decades. Graduates of the School's certificate and degree programs are at the creative vanguard of dance and can be found in all the major companies of Europe and America. Summer 2012 brings a new intensive for young dancers – a comprehensive program that reflects the realities of today’s professional dance world.
This program is for ages 12 to 21.
Comprehensive Dance is a new cross-disciplinary program designed to provide a highly focused experience for intermediate, advanced, and pre-professional dancers, ages 12 to 21. The dance curriculum reflects the School’s belief that the dancer must be proficient in a variety of dance forms to compete in today’s professional dance world. The goal of all classes is to provide the highest level of professional training while encouraging the student’s personal development and sense of artistic expression.
All students will take daily classes in both ballet and contemporary techniques taught by UNCSA faculty and distinguished guest artists. This comprehensive program also offers training in pointe, character, composition, partnering, music, somatics, yoga, contemporary repertory, contemporary ballet repertory, and hip-hop repertory. The session will conclude with a fully-produced concert of work generated during the five weeks, in which all summer students will have an opportunity to perform.
An audition is required for enrollment.
No pre-registration is necessary to audition for the Comprehensive Dance Summer Intensive.
A $20 audition fee is required – cash or check only.
Photographs and letters of recommendation are not required.
