Sculpture

Mark E. Brown earned his B.S. and M.F.A. degrees from East Carolina University.  His sculpture and drawings have been exhibited in France, New Zealand, Hungary, Finland, and Spain.  In addition, his works have been shown in more than 200 exhibitions in the United States at venues including the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (Winston-Salem), the National Arts Club (New York), Green Hill Center for NC Art (Greensboro, N.C.), Grounds for Sculpture (Hamilton, N.J.), and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (Minneapolis, Minn.).  In 2003-04, one of his outdoor works was included in the national traveling exhibition “Southern Bent,” curated by David Furchgott (International Art & Artists).

Mr. Brown’s works are included in numerous private and public collections including the Daura Gallery at Lynchburg College, the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, the Coca-Cola Company, and the City of Kinston, N.C.

Mr. Brown has served on the Board of Directors of Tri State Sculptors Educational Association (President, 1997-2001) and VSA Arts NC.  He has participated on panel discussions for the International Sculpture Center, the North Carolina Zoo, and the Asheville Museum of Art.  He has been a juror for the Virginia Commission on the Arts (Sculpture Fellowship), the William King Regional Arts Center (Abingdon, Va.), the Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission, and the Central Piedmont Regional Artists Grants from the North Carolina Arts Council. He has curated three traveling exhibitions.
