Updated gate closure changes

An evening shot of UNCSA campus. The safety and security of all students, faculty and staff is the responsibility of every member of the UNCSA Police and Public Safety Department. They are tasked with observing, assessing and implementing safety and security measures for this community, for which they have taken a sworn oath to serve.

Gate closure schedule

In order to meet their mandate, the standard operating procedures for securing and unlocking the external gates to campus, effective immediately, will be as follows:

  • All gates will continue to be locked at 10 p.m. Monday-Friday.
  • All gates will continue to be unlocked no later than 4 a.m. Monday-Friday.
  • NEW: All gates will remain locked from 10 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday.
  • NEW: All gates will remain locked from 10 p.m. on the last workday prior to a campus-observed holiday or extended campus closing until 4 a.m. on the first workday following the observed holiday or extended campus closing.

Weekend activities/performances

  • Community members attending activities/performances on the UNCSA main campus on weekends should be encouraged to use the South Main Street entrance if possible. Other gates may be closed on evenings and weekends. Handicap-accessible parking is available on Giannini Drive, in the circle directly in front of Watson Hall and Alex Ewing Performance Place.
Remember, you will still have access to the campus via your One Card at the gates with readers on either end of Ehle Drive.

Please note that this schedule corresponds with the typical operating hours of the campus and will mitigate the university’s exposure to potential unlawful acts when fewer employees and students are on campus.
