"Chief's Choice" recipients
Aretha Sutton
Aretha Sutton serves UNCSA in the Office of Human Resources. The University Police Department burdens the Office of Human Resources with numerous requests that often times require actions that are unfamiliar to the University Police personnel. Aretha is always amicable, pleasant and gives undivided attention and expert tutelage every time we call. Aretha’s demeanor and customer service is practically indescribable, and we appreciate Aretha for all she does for the University Police Department and UNCSA.
David Winkelman
David Winkelman (whom the Chief affectionately calls “Maestro”) is Associate Dean of the School of Music. Several months ago, the decision was made to adjust the times and days as it relates to gate closures in and around campus to help deter and mitigate crime. David has been a phenomenal partner in this process. David’s communication has been flawless — by providing performance dates and times in writing and well in advance, the University Police Department has had ample time to ensure needs are met and gates are open for performances.
Thompson Jones
Thompson is a percussionist in the High School Program who excells academically, is constantly honing his art and is a great member of the UNCSA community. Even in the midst of a rigorous workload, it is rare to find Thompson without a smile on his face and inviting you to his next performance. He is one of the most courteous and well-mannered students I have ever met.
Mikenzi Barrow
Mikenzi is a multifaceted artist and performer in the School of Drama. Anyone who meets Mikenzi will immediately recognize that her personality alone is going to take her far in her life and career. Mikenzi has garnered the respect of her peers, instructors and staff throughout the campus by being an excellent student, friend and member of the UNCSA community. In the midst of her busy schedule, Mikenzi still finds the time to assist anyone in any endeavor — she even spent an entire day assisting the University Police Department in an assessment process and maintained an incredible demeanor the entire nine hours.
