an animated feature for Disney, she penned the timeless classic "Beauty and the Beast"
(1991), the first animated feature to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best
Picture.
Her remarkable career boasts an impressive portfolio including the screenplay for
"The Lion King" (1994) and additional story material for "Mulan" (1998), among others.
Her talents have extended beyond the screen, as evidenced by her Tony Award nomination
and Olivier Award win for adapting her own "Beauty and the Beast" screenplay into
the book of the Broadway adaptation of the film.
