Staff members honored with awards
Staff Council Chair Dave LaVack recently announced winners of the two Staff Council awards for 2024.
Gray Bobbitt, an accounting technician in Financial Services, was named the winner of the Staff Council Professional Excellence Award. RaSheeda Lloyd, associate director of Auxiliary Services, was named winner of the Staff Council Community Service Award.
Nominated by his supervisor, Sarah Rimawi, Gray was singled out for his exceptional
execution of his job: “Gray loves to teach and he takes the time to support everyone.
He goes above and beyond to help everyone beyond his assigned duties.
“To give you an example, a student called him one time to pay his tuition, (and Gray)
directed him to TouchNet and walked him through it to pay his tuition. (Gray) works
in accounts payable and had the chance to say, ‘It's not my job’ and forward him to
Student Accounts. Gray chooses to help always.”
Sarah also spoke of supportive interactions within their department, as well as between
campus departments. “Gray has a great attitude and a pleasant personality, (and is)
very supportive to everyone no matter how his day looks like. He will help you with
a smile on his face.”
In addition, Sarah pointed out his exemplary interaction with the outside community
on behalf of UNCSA. “Gray interacts with vendors, and he does it with a professional
and caring manner. (He is) one of the best people to represent our school.”
RaSheeda Lloyd was nominated for the Staff Council Community Service Award by Jamie
Woodyard in the School of Design & Production.
“RaSheeda Lloyd has worked tirelessly in the community by volunteering her time and
energy … with several service organizations in and around Winston-Salem for many years,”
Jamie said. “For at least the last two years, her work with the SECU (State Employees
Credit Union) Family House has provided much-needed support to those in need.”
The Family House is a nonprofit that offers lodging and support services for patients
and caregivers who travel to Winston-Salem for medical services. “Some of the activities
that Rasheeda organized include: making and serving homemade meals for the guests
of Family House, planning and organizing the Glenn High School football team to assist
in installing new televisions in all 45 guest rooms, delivering food, writing welcome
cards and encouraging notes, creating centerpieces for the dining tables, and the
list goes on and on.
“Never one to seek the spotlight, RaSheeda gives of herself and commits not only to
the Family House, but also as a youth coach and mentor. I have personally worked with
RaSheeda to coach girls basketball for three years at Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville.
… The young ladies that she mentored and coached learned more than just basketball
fundamentals; they learned about good sportsmanship, community service and how to
be a great teammate.”
Jamie concluded: “The quiet strength that RaSheeda exudes is contagious and you walk
away believing that you can do anything after being in her presence. Ever the picture
of humility, she rarely discusses all of her wonderful contributions to others and
instead she just continues to give selflessly. UNCSA is blessed and lucky to have
her as one of our own.”
