A statement about current events

Dear UNCSA Community,

The events that took place yesterday in Washington, D.C., are unlike anything we have witnessed in this country during our lifetimes. Like millions of Americans and people worldwide, I am horrified and deeply saddened by this violent attempt to overturn an election, and the disturbing images of U.S. citizens storming our Capitol building. The peaceful transfer of power is one of the most fundamental tenets of our republic and any democratic government. I condemn this attack on our democracy in the strongest possible terms.

Our UNCSA community and our country must make it clear that we will not tolerate violence. Now, more than ever, we must come together, offer support and treat each other with dignity and respect.
