Courtenay Wynter Sr. Memorial Jazz Camp

The Courtney Wynter Sr. Memorial Jazz Camp is a 5 day event offered free of charge for serious music students in grades 8 through 12. Students explore their individual voices within a supportive ensemble environment, with a concentration on exploring jazz styles, standard repertoire, and improvisation. The program is open to students who play saxophone, trumpet, clarinet, flute, trombone, piano, bass, guitar and drums. Participants must audition.

11:45 – Student drop-off
12:00 – Group warm up (scale, chord, and rhythmic work)
12:30 – Listening and history session
1:30 – Sectional rehearsals
2:00 – Combo rehearsal I
3:00 – Snack Break
3:30 – Music Theory/ear training work
4:00 – Large Ensemble
5:00 – Student pick-up
