Welcome From The Dean of Dance

As we launch into our 2017-18 season the School of Dance is delighted to share our plans for the year ahead.

UNCSA’s diverse repertory is on par with many professional companies, providing students with life changing experiences. Our first semester provides performance opportunities from Fall Dance, Emerging Choreographers and twelve performances of “The Nutcracker,” choreographed by Ethan Stiefel. Repertory for Fall, Winter and Spring Dance Concerts include “Happy Little Things” by Aszure Barton; “Kingdom” by Larry Keigwin; “Of Earth Far Below” by Doug Varone; “GoLo” by Robyn Mineko Williams; “No Trace” by Ming-Lung Yang; “This Is Our Last Dance” by Kelly Maxner; “LOAM” by Associate Dean Brenda Daniels; “Symphonic Variations” by Sir Frederick Ashton; “Paquita,” based off of the staging of Marius Petipa; “Beyond Resonance” by Shen Wei; a work by José Limóne and a new contemporary ballet work by me.

The School of Dance continues to be exceptional and unique; our students not only work with an excellent faculty, but also have annual opportunities to work with well-known guest artists from around the world who are at the top of the field. These opportunities, along with high quality academics, and exposure to the other arts schools on campus (Film, Drama, Design & Production and Music) create well-informed, well rounded artists. UNCSA is an artists haven and promises our students an extraordinary adventure.
