Anja Arko headshot

Anja Arko is a Slovenian-born pianist, known for her sensitive lyricism and performances that portray a reserved care for a spectrum of tone colors and melodic shapes. Her infectious enthusiasm for music encourages Anja’s active career as a soloist, collaborator and piano pedagogue.

Anja Arko is a winner of the Slovenian National Competition in Piano Duo and has appeared in concerts, masterclasses and festivals across Europe from a young age. In pursuit of her musical education, Anja studied at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland, and continued her studies at the Schwob School of Music in Columbus, Georgia, where in 2011 she was accepted to a prestigious Artist Diploma program. Anja further obtained her M.M. in Piano Performance at the University of Florida (2016). A recipient of the Winston-Salem Foundation award, Anja Arko holds a Doctorate in Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2020), where she also earned a Post-Master’s Certificate in Music Theory Pedagogy.

Dr. Arko maintains a private teaching studio and is also an active member of the Greensboro music community, serving as a teacher and an adjudicator at local events, festivals and competitions.
