Ms. Serafini began dancing in Perkasie, Pennsylvania. As a young dancer, she studied in ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop. After six years of serious training, she was asked to be an apprentice for Artists in Rhythm (AIR) Dance Company. During her summers, Rachel studied at the Metropolitan Ballet, Dance Arts Collaborative, and Walnut Hill School.
Upon graduating high school one-year early, Rachel was accepted into the undergraduate contemporary program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts where she has performed works by Alexei Kremnev, Merce Cunningham, Charles Czarny, Dawn Bazemore, Juel Lane, Brenda Daniels, and Sean Sullivan. While earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts at UNCSA, Rachel has been honored to receive multiple awards including: the Robert & Sonja Lindgren Scholarship (2017), the Festival of North Carolina Dance Scholarship (2016), the Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship (2016), a Campus Arts Scholarship (2015), the Wills Family Scholarship (2014), and the Nutcracker Dance Scholarship (2014). UNCSA has enabled Rachel to specialize her training in the areas of Contemporary and Ballet. Following her college graduation in May of 2018, Rachel anticipates a career in commercial dance and also plans to open her own pre-professional training facility.
