Drop & Go is a process before new student move in where incoming students can drop
off some items to their residence hall room, making move in day a breeze!
Drop & Go is mandatory for incoming first-year students assigned to Artist Village
and residing in North Carolina. While it is optional for first-year out-of-state students
in Artist Village, they are welcome to take advantage of the program.

Have conversations with your roommate(s) prior to arrival, to minimize purchasing
or bringing duplicate items.

During Drop & Go
Arrive at the Welcome Center lot to park your vehicle, enter Artist Village and check
in at the front desk.
You will then receive a parking pass to display your dashboard for the duration of
your appointment, as well as a Pickle card that will give you access to your room
during your appointment. (The Pickle card must be returned to the staff member at
the front desk when you are finished with your appointment)
A limited number of rolling bins and hand trucks will be available and can be checked
out during your appointment.
Please pay attention to the clock as you unload your belongings and move items into
your room. We ask that you adhere to the 1-hour time slot you have signed up for.
Once your appointment has ended, or when you have finished unloading your items, you
will need to return your Pickle card to the Artist Village front desk staff. No one
may spend the night in Artist Village during Drop & Go.
If you notice any maintenance concerns in your room, please let the staff member at
the front desk know when you have finished your appointment.
After you have finished unloading your items and returned your Pickle card, please
proceed directly to your parking space and leave the parking lot as quickly as possible.
Residents in the subsequent time slot will need to park in those spaces.

What is Drop and Go and why is it required for all first year in state students who
will be residing in Artist Village?
Drop & Go is a program exclusively for incoming first-year students assigned to Artist
Village. It allows them to drop off their belongings before our official Move-In day,
offering an early opportunity to become acquainted with their residence hall rooms.
The primary aim is to ensure a seamless transition on our official Move-In day and
promote a smoother start to the academic year. The mandatory nature of this program
for our in-state students is crucial for managing the high volume of students moving
in, optimizing traffic flow, and ensuring a streamlined and efficient Move-In day
experience for all students and their families. We believe that this approach enhances
the overall Move-In process and contributes to a positive beginning for the academic
year.
When is Drop & Go
Drop & Go will take place from Wednesday, August 7th, to Saturday, August 10th, 2024.
During this time, each student gets a 1-hour slot to put their stuff in their rooms.
We kindly ask for Drop & Go participants to keep their belongings in their bins and
totes—no unpacking or decorating allowed yet!
Who is eligible for Drop & Go?
Participation in Drop & Go is mandatory for incoming first-year students assigned
to Artist Village and residing in North Carolina. While it is optional for first-year
out-of-state students in Artist Village, they are welcome to take advantage of the
program. However, it's important to note that students with holds on their student
accounts are not eligible to participate in Drop & Go. This ensures a smooth and efficient
process for all eligible participants.
How much time will I have to complete Drop & Go?
Each student participating in Drop & Go is required to sign up for a 1-hour appointment
to place items into their rooms.
What should I not bring to Drop & Go?
Please do not bring any of the following items with you to your Drop & Go appointment:
Perishable food items
Medications
Valuables/electronics
Electric skillets (Prohibited)
No items with heating coils or open flames (Prohibited)
Halogen lamps (Prohibited)
What suggestions do you have for what I should bring to Drop & Go?
As you prepare for Drop & Go, it's essential to label your items with your first and
last name along with your room number. In case you forget, a labelling station will
be available for your convenience. While the list is not exhaustive, here are some
suggestions for items you may consider bringing to Drop & Go:
Bedding
Toiletry items

Can I unpack my items during Drop & Go?
During Drop & Go, it's important to keep items in their boxes or bins, each appropriately
labeled with your name and room number. Unpacking or decorating is not permitted during
this phase. You will have the opportunity to unpack and personalize your space on
the official Move-In date, scheduled for August 13th.
Is moving assistance available during my Drop & Go appointment?
While we do not offer moving assistance for Drop & Go, we provide the convenience
of rolling bins and hand trucks available for check out. You are also welcome to bring
your own if you prefer. This ensures a smooth and manageable experience as you place
your items in your room during the appointment.
Can I bring a Mini Fridge?
There is a limit of one additional mini fridge per suite. Before bringing a mini fridge
to Drop & Go or Move-In day, we recommend discussing this with your suitemates to
ensure coordination. If you choose to bring a mini fridge to Drop & Go, please place
it on the floor in your bedroom.
Can I bring guests with me to Drop & Go?
Absolutely! You are welcome to bring family or friends to accompany you during the
Drop & Go process. They can assist you in moving your items, and it's a great opportunity
to create lasting memories together during this exciting phase.
Will all Artist Village rooms be available for Drop & Go?
It's important to be aware that certain rooms in Artist Village might undergo final
touches during the Drop & Go dates, limiting access. Residents impacted by this will
receive communication from Residence Life. They will be guided to choose a standard
Move-In day and time on August 13th, ensuring a seamless transition into Artist Village.
What happens if I cannot participate in Drop & Go?
Should you find yourself unable to participate in Drop & Go or if your room is undergoing
final touches during this period, Residence Life will reach out to you directly. In
such cases, you will be guided to select a standard Move-In day and time on August
13th, ensuring a smooth transition into your residence.
Where do I park for Drop & Go?
Parking for Drop & Go is conveniently located in the Welcome Center lot at Spangler
Way, Winston Salem, NC 27127, directly in front of Artist Village. Upon checking in
for Drop & Go at the front desk of Artist Village, you will be provided with a parking
pass, which must be displayed on your dashboard throughout the duration of your Drop
& Go appointment. It's important to note that vehicles parked in fire lanes or other
areas not designated for Drop & Go parking may be subject to ticketing and towing
at the owner's expense.
