Wireless network for gaming and smart devices available

male student playing video gameUNCSA allows students to connect some gaming consoles and smart devices to the wireless Auxiliary (AUX) Network in the residence halls. Through a registration process each resident can connect their smart and gaming devices to the AUX Network. Laptops and Desktops should continue to access wireless via the Student Network and will not be permitted on the AUX Network because of security issues. Device registrations will be deleted at the end of each semester. Register your device by submitting an IT support ticket to request access to the AUX Network.

Devices that would benefit from using the AUX Network are Smart TVs, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Roku, Game Consoles (Xbox, Wii, PlayStation), Kindle, Blu-Ray players, etc.

This service is offered as a convenience to residential students; the Information Technology Help Desk does not provide support for gaming consoles and smart devices.

  • Not all gaming consoles or smart devices are capable of connecting to UNCSA's networks.
  • Some game features may not work well on the wireless network due to the differences between home and enterprise networks.
