Faculty and staff interested in increasing their wellness can join UNCSA teams forming to participate in the Fall Miles for Wellness Challenge 16, a team-based walking initiative by and for the state employees of North Carolina. Participants will track their physical activity for 8 weeks and wrapping up before Thanksgiving.

Last spring, 40 UNCSA employees participated in Miles for Wellness Challenge 15. Employees were placed on four teams -- Quads of Fury, Relish Racers, Step In Time and Dilly Dashers. Each team placed in each of the four different walking-level divisions. Dilly Dashers (pictured) placed 2nd in the state for walkers who completed 56,000 steps per week per member. Quads of Fury placed 5th in the state in the division for walkers who completed 105,001 or more steps per week per member. Together, UNCSA teams walked 27,155,689 steps or 13,578 miles.

This year UNCSA plans to expand planned group activities in addition to returning some favorites like the "Pickle Promenade" around Performance Circle and "Dancing on Daniels Plaza."

Note: Team formation closed Sept. 19.
