UNCSA to participate in State Employees Combined Campaign

The words give in different colorsI’m pleased to announce that we’re kicking off our UNCSA campaign on Sept. 23 as part of the 2019 State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) in North Carolina.

SECC was created to offer state employees a convenient, efficient and trusted way to support local, state,  national and international charities. Last year’s campaign raised more than $3.4 million from North Carolina’s state employees for causes ranging from the American Red Cross to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to the World Wildlife Fund and nearly 900 more.

Here at UNCSA, we raised $6,655 last year, or $155 more than the 2018 goal of $6,500. Of the school’s more than 450 employees, 65 – or 14 percent – donated. We would love to see the same amount of participation or more this year.

Your contribution enters you in a chance for a reserve parking spot
Our campaign runs through Nov. 22. If you make your donation by that date, you’ll be entered into a raffle to win a parking spot near your office, complete with SECC Donor sign (though because of tax rules you’ll still have to pay for a non-reserved spot).

You may donate one of two ways. Through your representatives on the Faculty and Staff councils, you’ll be provided with a paper pledge form (please return to Joan Roggenkamp) along with a printed 2019 Giving Guide. SECC will send an email around Sept. 27 to provide you a link to pledge online, if you prefer. Payroll deduction – January through December 2020 – is available. And your contributions are tax-deductible.

You contribution can go towards UNCSA's comprehensive campaign
As you may know, we have recently launched the public phase of our $65 million comprehensive campaign, Powering Creativity: The Campaign for UNCSA. While we’ve raised $54 million during the quiet phase, we have $11 million more to reach our goal. Any gift you make to UNCSA via SECC will be counted toward our comprehensive campaign goal and toward our SECC goal. (Note: The UNC School of the Arts Foundation is SECC charity No. 1836.)

For other charities, check out your printed Giving Guide or visit NCSECC.org to search for charities that match your interests. By donating through the SECC, you’ll make a powerful difference to a cause that is important to you while also being part of a larger philanthropic effort with significant impact.
