Teams forming for state's Miles for Wellness Challenge
Join us on this virtual trail while increasing and tracking your physical activity for eight weeks. Miles for Wellness is a free state-sponsored event by the NC Office of Human Resources for all state employees. The challenge is March 16-May 10, 2020.
UNCSA teams have been increasing their activity level. See result of UNCSA teams on past challenges. Several UNCSA teams have led the state in different activity level categories!
How does it work?
You'll be placed on a team with other UNCSA employees. Your team and your captain will be your biggest fan and supporter of your efforts. As a participant you'll have access to an easy activity conversion spreadsheet that calculates your gardening, hiking, golfing, and running into steps. Your goal is to reach 10,000 steps most days of the eight-week challenge. Keep track of your activity level on the spreadsheet you'll get from your captain and turn in your weekly steps each Monday. Every person's steps count on a team.
Reach for a million
We'll be recognizing those participants that reach the 1 million step milestone. It's a hard-earned club to get into, but always welcoming new members.
What are the incentives?
Bragging rights. Sense of accomplishment. Possible weight loss. Better mental health and mood. Strengthening your bones and muscles. A reason to get out on campus and enjoy working in a park-like environment.
