Spring performance tickets converted into $16,000 in donations
Spring performance cancellations due to COVID-19 led to 163 patrons turning their UNCSA box office ticket purchases into donations to UNCSA Foundation. Instead of asking for refunds, numerous patrons chose to make donations to the Annual Fund, Giannini Society Membership, Drama’s Acting Out! and UNCSA Presents.
The amount donated from converted tickets totals just under $16,300. The money is greatly needed at a time when other fundraising events had to be canceled such as NextNow 2020 or events like Day of Giving placed on hold. NextNow is huge scholarship fundraiser for the UNCSA, and the Day of Giving provides a friendly competition between the Art Schools to meet alumni giving goals.
For students, canceled events meant a loss of revenue. Students use these events to sell concessions and collect donations for senior trips. Donations going to Acting Out! will help Drama students make up for the loss in sales.
UNCSA Foundation Inc., is a sole-support entity for UNCSA. Donating to UNCSA Foundation provides funding for student scholarships, program support, set materials, guest artists, faculty and staff emergency loans, faculty development grants, and more.
