Community Read of ''Caste'' kicks off soon
The first session of the Community Read of "Caste: The Origins of our Discontents" is at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16 via Zoom. Registration to the virtual book club is free and discounted copy of Isabel Wilkerson's celebrated new book on race and racism may still be available.
Get the book, start reading and join a moderated discussion focused on a portion of the book with thematic commentary from special guests. Join in all three sessions or as many as you can.
Dr. April Ruffin-Adams, a UNCG visiting assistant professor in African-American and African Diaspora Studies will moderate all three Zoom sessions. On Nov. 16, Community Read participants will be joined by Dr. Barry Trachtenberg, the Michael R. & Deborah K. Rubin Presidential Chair of Jewish History and associate professor of history at Wake Forest University. The theme of this first session is Caste in America and Nazi Germany.
UNCSA is a co-sponsor of the Community Read with MUSE Winston-Salem, Wake Forest University College of Arts & Sciences, and Bookmarks.
