Based on a 1959 short story by British author Alan Sillitoe and updated to modern-day urban England by award-winning British playwright Roy Williams, “The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner” follows Colin Smith, a teenager from a troubled home. While in a youth detention center, Colin discovers long-distance running as a method of both emotional and physical escape from societal binds. “There’s pain and heartache, but the emotional journey’s worth it.” (Time Out New York).
