Vaccine mandate for federal employees, contractors does not affect UNCSA

Masked student and teacher in a classroomYou may have heard or read that all federal employees and contractors are required to receive the COVID-19 vaccination based on guidance from the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force and President Joe Biden’s Executive Order 14042.

Since UNCSA employees are state employees and UNCSA does not have any federal contractors, this guidance does not affect our university at this time. However, the order does impact many of our fellow UNC System and other higher education institutions across North Carolina and the country.

We continue to encourage our community to get vaccinated as the most effective way to protect our campus, and we are pleased that currently 93% of students and 92% of employees have submitted proof of vaccination. As a reminder, faculty, staff and students who have not submitted proof of vaccination are required to complete surveillance testing weekly from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Tuesday in Eisenberg Social Hall of the Hanes Student Commons.
