Four 2020 short films, one alumni short and one alumni feature to screen this weekend in the Carrboro Film Festival
"échappé," "Kindred Kings," "Sideways" and "Spread Among Us" will screen at the Carrboro Film Festival Nov. 19-21. Festival favorites alumni feature film "Landlocked" and alumni short film "Free Order" will also screen at Carrboro.
"échappé" was written by Rebecca Walters and Brandon Rieff, directed by Rebecca Walters, produced by Brandon Rieff and Julia Lofton Walpole with cinematography by Rachel Shattle, production design by Shelby Grzech, editing and sound design by Joe Linford, music by Meng Tung Lee, choreography by Gary Taylor and Isabel Newport with costume design by Rachel Nicole Anderson, and wig & makeup design by Brittan Furr.
"échappé" will screen in the in the “Southern Beings: Narrative Shorts Block on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 10 a.m.
“Kindred Kings” was co-written and directed by Gray, and co-written/produced by School of Filmmaking student Jo Hatcher, with cinematography and editing by School of Filmmaking student Zachary Smith. Production design is by Romello Huins and Gray, who also provided costume design, with makeup by Natosha Martin, and music by School of Design and Production student Nick Parnell. Vocals were composed and performed by School of Drama student Deandre Sevon and Mlaj.

"Sideways" was written by Ben Trauner, directed by Daniel Robert Smith, produced by Thatcher Johnson-Welden, co-produced by Sam Varriale, with cinematography by John Curtis, production design by Jordan W. Sayman, edited by Nikos Spiridakis, sound designed by Micah Godsey and Nikos Spriridakis, with music by Michael Gaffney, costume design by Lizzie Lovett, and wig & makeup design by Nic See.
"Sideways" will screen in the Southern Laughs: Narrative Shorts block at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20.
"Spread Among Us"
"Spread Among Us" was written and produced by Devin Peluso, directed by Travis Stewart, with cinematography by Jacob Love, production design by Ben Ter Haar, editing and sound design by Zachary Smith, music by Calvin Evans, Jr., costume design by Sarah Sims, and wig & makeup design by Ben Psimer.
"Spread Among Us" will screen in the Southern Suspense: Free Screening at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20.
“Free Order” was written, directed, produced and edited by alumnus Brian Sheehan (BFA Filmmaking ’19) and recently won the “audience choice” prize at Beyond: The Cary Film Festival.
“Free Order" will screen in the Southern Laughs: Narrative Shorts block at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20.
"Landlocked" was written by Jonathan Foster (B.F.A. Filmmaking ’03) and Tim Hall (B.F.A. Filmmaking ’11), from a story by Hall, directed by Hall, produced by Leslie Hall, Tim Hall, Daniel Hansen (B.F.A. Filmmaking ’11), Alexander Sablow (B.F.A. Filmmaking ’09), with cinematography by Sablow, edited by Daniel Hansen and Kevin Tadge (B.F.A. Filmmaking ’09), music by Son of Cloud, costume design by Karen Freed, featuring Dustin Gooch (B.F.A. Filmmaking ’09) in the cast. Purvis Jordan (B.F.A. Filmmaking ’09) served as the executive producer and Tiffany Luard (B.F.A. Filmmaking ’08) was an associate producer.
“Landlocked is the featured Saturday Night Screening at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20.
