Wireless SSID name to change for campus
On Thursday, Aug. 4, Information Technologies will be changing our wireless SSID name. This is the name that you connect to when you discover new wireless networks on campus from your device.
Currently, we have 3 different SSID names (ncsa_admin, ncsa_hs, and ncsa_college). We will be combining all of these into one SSID, named UNCSA-WIFI.
- The student SSIDs (ncsa_hs and ncsa_college) will be turned off. As students arrive or return to campus in August, they will use UNCSA-WIFI.
- For employees, it is recommended you go ahead and select UNCSA-WIFI the next time you need to update your cellphone or computer when you are routinely prompted to change your UNCSA password for your UNCSA login credentials.
Once you connect to UNCSA-WIFI, your normal login credentials will work as expected. The ncsa_admin SSID will be up only for a transitional period. There is no change to UNCSA-Guest for our campus visitors.
