Wireless SSID name to change for campus

On Thursday, Aug. 4, Information Technologies will be changing our wireless SSID name. This is the name that you connect to when you discover new wireless networks on campus from your device.

Currently, we have three different SSID names (ncsa_admin, ncsa_hs, and ncsa_college). We will be combining all of these into one SSID, named UNCSA-WIFI.

The student SSIDs (ncsa_hs and ncsa_college) will be turned off. As students arrive or return to campus in August, they will use UNCSA-WIFI. When logging in to UNCSA-WIFI, use your full email address as the username (e.g. student@artist.uncsa.edu) along with your current UNCSA password.
For employees, it is recommended you go ahead and select UNCSA-WIFI the next time you need to update your cellphone or computer when you are routinely prompted to change your UNCSA password for your UNCSA login credentials. Note: If you are connecting with your personal computer, you will need to use your full email address. This is not the case if you are using a UNCSA computer.

Once you connect to UNCSA-WIFI, your normal login credentials will work as expected. The ncsa_admin SSID will be up only for a transitional period. There is no change to UNCSA-Guest for our campus visitors.

Scheduled network maintenance for select campus buildings beginning Aug. 1

To prepare for these changes, IT will also be performing network wireless maintenance for specific campus areas per the schedule below. Each group will begin at 7 p.m. on the specified day. Each building should be without wireless access for about 30 minutes sometime within the specified maintenance window.
