Campuswide food donation drive to help people in Forsyth County

Shelves of canned tuna and jars of peanut butter For many individuals and families in Forsyth County, food insecurity is a major challenge. To help bridge the gap, UNCSA Staff Council is partnering with The Salvation Army of Winston-Salem in a campuswide and community food drive. The food drive will begin on October 26-Dec. 16 with two drop off locations for campus:

  • The Center for Design Innovation
  • The UNCSA Foundation House

The Salvation Army’s pantries can accept any non-perishable food item. The following items are most valuable as The Salvation Army prepares to provide Christmas Food Boxes to families:

  • Cereal
  • Pancake Mix
  • Syrup
  • Canned vegetables
  • Macaroni and Cheese
  • Instant Potatoes
  • Canned Fruit
  • Soups
  • Peanut Butter
  • Canned Pasta with sauce
  • Beef/Chicken Stew
  • Brownie Mix or Jell-O

At the Stevens Center location, the food drive will open up to the Forsyth County community starting Dec. 8 during Campus Night for "The Nutcracker," and continue through the final performance of "The Nutcracker" on Dec. 18. During that time, ticket holders for "The Nutcracker" can deliver their donations to collection boxes at the Stevens Center. We thank the UNCSA family for joining the effort to combat food insecurity in our broader community.
