State Employees Combined Campaign extended to Nov. 30

The North Carolina blue ridge mountainscape with the word Give overlayed. The State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) at UNCSA has been extended to Wednesday, Nov. 30, from Nov. 18, to encourage more participation.

Thus far, we have raised $1,596 of our goal of $6,000, and 17 employees out of 462, or 4%, have donated. Our participation goal this year is 50 employees. Last year, we raised $6,250 ($750 over our 2021 goal of $5,500) and saw 39 employees participate.

Every gift counts.

Your gift of $25 provides a health and hygiene kit for a homeless veteran; $52 provides a backpack full of school supplies for a middle or high school student; $104 provides one domestic violence support group for 10 women; $240 provides one day of cancer research; and $365 provides food for eight children for a year.

This year, more than 825 charities – ranging from Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina to the World Wildlife Fund – are eligible for donations in the 2022 Giving Guide. The UNC School of the Arts Foundation (No. 1836) is also eligible.

We know that donating this year is a challenge because of higher prices on everything from food to gas. However, that just means the demands charities are facing are even greater. In addition, natural disasters have added to the needs. If you can, please participate. If you choose to donate, you may want to donate on Tuesday, Nov. 29, which is #GivingTuesday.

If you make your donation by the end of our campaign, you’ll be entered into a raffle to win a reserved parking spot near your office, complete with SECC Donor sign. Please note that because of tax rules you will still need to pay for the spot using the non-reserved rate.

How to donate

It's easy to donate. Use the special ePledge link you were emailed from the SECC in October and in subsequent SECC emails. Or use the 2022 Online Pledge Form that can be submitted directly to the SECC. If you prefer a printed Giving Guide (booklet) and form, contact Ginger Caston at castong@uncsa.edu. If you would like to space out your contribution, payroll deduction is available (January through December 2023). And your contributions are tax-deductible.
