Affinity Group meetings for spring 2023
We are proud to announce that, for Spring 2023, we are launching four new Affinity
Groups for faculty and staff and hosting another meeting for the ones launched last
semester. As we continue to finalize details of making Affinity Groups self-sustaining, we would
like to remind you of the goals of these groups.
Affinity Group goals:
- Identify faculty and staff members across campus interested in equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Assist faculty and staff members in finding ways to move from ally to accomplice to support students better.
- Make inter-departmental connections to ease and encourage collaboration for EDIB.
- Have a good time over a good meal.
As before, there won’t be a formal program, but you can expect some prompts for group dialog and engagement.
Affinity Group dates for spring 2023
- Advancing EDIB*: Monday, April 3rd: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- LGBTQIA+: Wednesday, April 5th: 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Women: Monday, April 10th: 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Hispanic/Latine: Tuesday, April 18th: 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
- International: Thursday, April 20th: 12 p.m.-1:30 p.m.
- Jewish: Friday, April 21st: 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- African American/Black: Monday, May 1st: 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Asian/Pacific Islander: Thursday, May 4th: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
*Dr. B. Afeni McNeely Cobham will be a featured guest as she starts as the Associate Vice Chancellor/Chief Diversity Officer and Vice Provost for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
