Meet Hannah Callaway
My name is Hannah Callaway and I joined the Digital Media Department at UNCSA one year ago as Social and Digital Content Producer. I manage UNCSA’s main social media channels and our digital content strategy. This includes assigning and reviewing stories and videos prepared by Digital Media, as well as working with Marketing & Communications to publish press releases on the website. I also manage edits and additions to most of the public-facing pages of the website (anything that’s not in My SA). One of my favorite things about my job is being able to share what’s happening on campus with the #wecreatehere hashtag. It’s also a lot of fun to interview students, alumni and guest artists for many of the stories I write.
My office is located on the first floor of the Administration building, at the intersection of Cube Boulevard and Cube Avenue (yes, we named the cubicles).
I am a local girl from Winston-Salem. My family moved to the mountains of North Carolina for a few years when I was a kid, and there I had the opportunity to live on a summer camp – canoeing, hiking and going to campfires whenever I wanted. I returned to the mountains for college, but have been in the Piedmont ever since.
My husband, Brandon, and I met right before I graduated from college. Appropriate for my career, our first words were exchanged via Twitter. We have been married for almost five years and have a schnorkie pup, Schmidt, who is named after one of our favorite television characters.
I studied Communication and English in college and graduated from Appalachian State University. I attended graduate school at UNC-Greensboro, where I also taught public speaking classes for one school year.
Prior to working at UNCSA, I worked in communications and public relations at Salem Academy and College. Before that, I managed a corporate social media team at Market America in Greensboro.
I love North Carolina. My husband and I love to travel around the state on short weekend trips – often to visit restaurants I’ve read about or to attend concerts. I also enjoy writing, and I used to be an avid blogger. I am working to design and develop a new blog that I would like to launch this year. We purchased our first home a couple of weeks ago and currently, all of my free time (and money) is being spent on home improvement projects.
