Meet Jason Romney

My name is Jason Romney and I teach in the Design & Production Sound Design program and I am also the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) Director. I’ve been part of the Design & Production Faculty for 12 years. I am also a freelancer as a sound designer for theatre. In particular, I’ve developed a real passion for Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA). I’ve designed the sound for several shows at the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte – one of the largest TYA professional companies in the country.

Jason Romney
I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am married with four kids. Our house is pretty much in a constant state of chaos! I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Design & Technology from Utah State University. My Master of Fine Arts in Sound Design is from UNCSA!

Free time is limited but I try to get the most out of it. I serve in a lay leadership position at my church. I run a Boy Scout program, Troop 777, in Winston-Salem. I love to run and try to get in 15-20 miles in each week. A few years ago I got an amateur radio license and I like to play around with my radio equipment. I have a big antenna on my roof and everything! I have a book that I co-wrote with a computer science professor at Wake Forest University and one of my former graduate students that we’re preparing for publication. It should be available in the next couple months. So I’m spending a lot of my spare time working on finalizing all the details with the publisher. I’m looking forward to having an actual book I can hold in my hand to show for all the work I’ve done.
