Social Media Guidelines

Social Media Guidelines

The Office of Strategic Communications offers guidance and support to students, faculty, staff and alumni who manage UNCSA-related social media accounts.

Best practices

UNCSA social media accounts are used as a form of digital communication with campus, the community and prospective students and families. They must be regularly updated, including frequent posts and timely responses to comments and questions.

Creating a new account

All new social media accounts must be approved, and a member of Strategic Communications must have administrative access to accounts at all times. Consider these questions first, then contact Digital Content Producer Melissa Upton-Julio to move forward with creating a new account.

  • What is the purpose?
  • Who is the intended audience?
  • Who is responsible for upkeep?
  • Where will I find content?
  • How often will updates be made?

Photo dimensions

Social media preferred photo dimensions change frequently, but the following is a list of suggested sizes. PicMonkey is a free tool for sizing photos, and Canva offers many creative solutions for creating social media content. All students and some faculty and staff also have access to Adobe Creative Cloud for photo editing and sizing. Photos should be hi-resolution when possible, and should not include unnecessary text or borders.

Please ask permission before using UNCSA logos on your account.
